It was a tale of two different halves Friday night as the Bray-Doyle Donkeys came away with a 60-22 victory over the Thackerville Wildcats. Head coach Marcus Knight said he was proud of his team and the way they played.

“I thought we played well on both sides of the ball,” Knight said “Cody Edwards had 5 interceptions and ran one back for a touchdown. Tyler Anderson had 200 yards and pass for a touchdown.”

Edwards and the Bray-Doyle defense was the key turning point for the Donkey victory.

“I think he tied a state record with the amount of interceptions he had,” Knight said.

Just before halftime the Donkeys scored their final touchdown of the half to gain the 22-20 lead.. It was with this score that Knight really thought his team had the game in hand.

“That final touchdown before halftime I knew we had the momentum,” Knight said. “We had the confidence and didn’t let up the entire second half.”

Along with the positives, Knight said there are still things that need to be worked on.

“We really need to stop turning the ball over and bring our snaps down,” Knight said.

The Donkeys hope to continue winning on the road as they travel to Paoli to take on the Pugs. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 September 13.

Knight said a quick paced offense and eliminating turnovers will be key to victory.

“We need to keep moving the ball and quicken the offense with no huddles and we can’t fumble the ball,” Knight said “We do those things and we have a really good shot to be successful.”
