Mrs. Kandi Dodson’s fifth-grade art class has been busy creating art from recyclable materials as part of the Keep Oklahoma Beautiful bottle cap art contest. The students gathered bottle caps to construct their art project, a barn.
“I thought this would be a really cool project for the students,” Dodson said. “It helps them with their creative side and teaches them more about recycling.”
According to the Keep Oklahoma Beautiful website, the project educates students about the importance of recycling and how to reuse items.
Along with their artwork, the class wrote short essays describing what they learned during the project, including the significance of recycling and the negative impact of littering on the environment.
“I really enjoyed looking for the different types of lids,” fifth-grader Mikayla Perdue said. “I think using the bottle caps is important because animals can’t eat the lids, swallow them, and hurt themselves.”
Everyone is encouraged to vote for Dodson’s class at SurveyMonkey. Voting will close on October
