On Monday, September 23, Bray-Doyle FCCLA will hold a blood drive from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the high school library. FCCLA adviser Bayli Lucas hopes for the best for the year’s first of three blood drives.
“ I’m hoping to get all 25 people to donate blood,” Lucas said. “We usually have a pretty good turnout during our first blood drives of the year.”
For someone to donate, they must meet specific qualifications. To donate whole blood, one must be healthy and feeling well. They must be at least 16 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. To make a Power Red Donation or a two-unit donation. Male donors must be at least 17 years old and at least 5’1” tall and weigh at least 130 pounds. Female donors must be at least 19 years old, 5’5”, and weigh at least 150 pounds. Platelet donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Finally, for someone to give plasma, they must have type AB blood, at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds.
