Reaching 1,000 points is a difficult task for any person, but it was a task that Bray-Doyle Lady Donkey senior Kyndalin Byrd was ready for. Byrd reached the millennium mark in the 29-55 loss to class 3A Davis in the Stephens County Tournament.

“It felt really good to accomplish that in my career,” Byrd said.”It’s a really big thing to do because few people have done it.”

Byrd credits her teammates and coaches for helping her get to this historic point of her career.

“I couldn’t have gotten to this point without my teammates,” Byrd said. “We work together and we have adapted over the years together.”

Lady Donkey head coach Angela Robnett said she was proud of her senior for reaching the milestone in Friday night’s game.

“She’s worked really hard to get to this point,” Robnett said. “This is a huge milestone for any athlete and she got it.”

Though the county tournament didn’t go the way the Lady Donkeys had hoped, the new coach said there were some positives in the two games they played.

“No matter what the score was our girls never gave up,” Robnett said. “We played against two really tough 3A  teams (#9 Comanche and Davis). That makes it tough because it’s a different level of play.”

The Lady Donkeys couldn’t get back into the win column Monday night as they fell short to the Ryan Cowgirls 55-42. Senior Sydney Kovar led the Lady Donkeys with 22 points, followed by Kaily Early with 14.

Friday, January 31, the Lady Donkeys will host Thackerville for Senior Night with festivities starting at 6 and tip-off at 6:30.
