Alyson Long practices hitting during softball practice. Long is one of the three seniors leading the Lady Donkeys this season.

After ending the slow-pitch softball season with a 10-9 record last year, Bray-Doyle lady Donkey head coach Frank Moser said he feels very excited for the season to begin.

“I think it’s going to be a great season this year,” Moser said. “We have a lot of returning players this year with some great leadership.”

Last year’s team had a lot of young players, with only graduating one senior in Mekayla Cox, giving the team a lot of experience to begin the season.

“We have a lot of players back this year and that will help us off on the right foot,” Moser said. “We will also have some freshmen playing, but they are a good young bunch of players.

With such a young team, Moser will still be looking at his three seniors to help guide the team.

“We have three seniors that will help lead us this year,” Moser said. “Aly Long is back this year, along with Sara Eldridge and Destiny Cothren. I’m really expecting some great leadership out of those three.”

Along with the three seniors, Moser will be looking at they underclassmen to play a big role this year.

“We have a lot of young athletic players this year.,” Moser said. “We have a lot of talent in the field and at the plate, we just have to put it all together.”

The Lady Donkeys will begin the season with a season opener at Lawton Christian on Friday, March 1, at 4:30 p.m., with the junior high team starting followed by the high school.

Update the Lady Donkeys defeated Lawton Christian 16-1.
