FCCLA gets ready for Spring blood drive

On Thursday March 12 from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., the Bray-Doyle Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) will hold their Spring blood drive in the Bray-Doyle High School Library.

FCCLA advisor Vickie Carden said she is hoping to repeat from the FCCLA blood drive in the Fall.

`    “We had a really great turnout and surpassed our goal in the Fall,” Carden said. “I’m hoping we continue this and reach past that amount.”

In order for someone to donate they must meet certain qualifications. To donate whole blood, one must be in good health and feeling well. They must be at least 16 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. To make a Power Red Donation or a two unit donation. Male donors must be at least 17 years old and at least 5’1” tall and weigh at least 130 pounds. Female donors must be at least 19 years old, 5’5” and weight at least 150 pounds. Platelet donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Finally, for someone to give plasma, they must have type AB blood, at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds.
